FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Some of the most commonly asked questions about Chiropractic are answered by Active and Advanced Chiropractic:

Do you take private insurance?

We do not handle insurance directly, but we will do our best to assist you. While some patients have limited to full coverage, most do not have insurance that covers the treatments we provide. However, with or without insurance, our rates are made extremely affordable, so that patients can receive their recommended care plan without worries.

Are your treatments covered by Medisave?

No, Advanced Pain Centres is currently not under the Medisave programme.

Will you adjust me on the first visit?

We usually do for the majority, but not before thorough examination of your condition, and if required, the evaluation of results from your X-ray or MRI. If you already have recent relevant films, we can go over the results of your evaluation, answer any new questions and give you your first treatment in our office.

Patient Forms

Upon entering our office, our receptionist will request that you complete our patient forms located at our New Patient Center. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.

Consultation

Next, you will have a consultation with one of our doctors to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for our doctors to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.

Examination

After your consultation, the doctor will perform a complete chiropractic examination to test your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

X-Ray Studies

Depending on your condition, X-rays may or may not be required. X-rays can help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you and alert us of any serious spinal conditions. Most people are amazed when they see their X-rays up close. In some cases, they can even identify the misalignments and degeneration themselves.

Report of Findings

Once information is collected and examinations are performed, our doctors will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions, including:

  1. How can you help me?
  2. How often do I need to come in?
  3. What will my treatment cost?

After reviewing your health history and expectations, and examining your spine and X-rays, out doctor will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires alternative forms of treatment Rest assured, the best treatment and wellness program will be provided for your needs.

Treatment

At the conclusion of your first appointment, you can choose whether or not to proceed with treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy and/or soft tissue massage. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.

What adjustment technique do you use for the chiropractic portion of care?

First and foremost, technique we use are administered to patients only when deemed safe. For example, we wouldn’t treat a child or an elderly patient with osteoporosis the same way we would treat a healthy athlete.

Our work is based on a technique called diversified, which focuses on correcting shifts in the spinal column. We use a combination of drop tables, adjusting instruments, and traditional manual adjustments with that “pop” often associated with chiropractic. Part of our initial evaluation is to understand and address concerns you may have about adjustments, so that we can find the most comfortable and effective way for you to get adjusted.

Do you do spinal adjustments for kids? Is it done the same way as for adults?

Yes, children are welcomed too. Adjustment techniques for kids are similar but much gentler. As people of all ages are susceptible to spinal misalignment, we strongly encourage checkups to begin from birth to old age.

Once I start going to Advanced Pain Centres, will I have to keep going forever?

No, there is no lifetime contract. Patients can stop treatment whenever they like. Treatments are not addictive either, unless you have an adamant desire to be fit and healthy always. We do, however, have many patients who choose long-term maintenance to prevent problems from reoccuring. As always, though, the choice lies with the patient.

How many treatment sessions do I need?

This depends on the severity of your condition and the level of degenerative (arthritic) changes present. Your initial evaluation will help us determine this, and we will explain the implications of the results to you.

Do you take X-rays?

Depending on the situation, an X-ray may or may not be required. Patients seeking decompression and scoliosis treatments require X-rays, but those with neuropathy do not. In certain cases, it is better that we know the exact problem with the structure of your spine before recommending any treatment.

"I tried Chiropractic, and it didn't work."

We have had many patients enter our clinics after many failed treatments elsewhere. Unlike other treatment centres, we make it a point to keep up with latest on what works best in spinal decompression, neuropathy, functional nutrition and scoliosis treatment. Equipped with an all-encompassing understanding of chiropractic, we are confident of providing a solution to your problem.

How long does an evaluation take?

A complete evaluation will take 30-45 minutes, with a bulk of this attributed to new patient paperwork during the first visit. To expedite this process, please download and print the form from our website.

How soon will I feel better?

Healing time varies from person to person. Our focus is to get you out of pain and stabilise the condition as fast as possible. All cellular repairs are controlled and coordinated by your central nerve system – the reason why our ultimate goal is to maximise nerve stress relief. How quickly this translates into you feeling better is based on several factors, including degenerative changes, exercise habits, stress levels, diet, and medications you take.

I do not like my neck popped. What can you do for me?

We use drop tables and adjusting instruments that are extremely gentle yet highly effective. Don’t worry, no popping necessary.

Is there an age requirement or limit to receive treatment?

Our oldest client is 85 years old, and some weeks we adjust newborns as well. 20% of our patients are children, primarily because many of our Practice Members want their children to reach their full potential – and 100% nerve supply is an important part of that equation.
